Lora Erickson, known as “the blonde runner,” enjoys catching worms with her boys and cooking with her daughter. But this mother also is an entrepreneur, trainer, coach, race director, adult health teacher, running club co-founder and weight-loss specialist. Now that’s a lot of titles.
“Whether your goal is to run a marathon, enter your first triathlon or shed an unwanted 20 pounds, I want you to become the next success story,” said Erickson.
Erickson grew up in Colorado where there was no formal cross country or track program until high school. She decided to run in a 5K race without any formal training and came in just behind the high school track star. Erickson was immediately recruited by the high school and was offered scholarships to run for Yale, Stanford, BYU, University of Utah, and Utah State.
From there, Erickson became obsessed with helping others to stay healthy, fit and lose weight.
“I find that many athletes have a difficult time eating healthy,” said Erickson. “Many athletes think they can eat whatever they want because they will burn off the calories and are naturally thin or muscular; but thin is not synonymous with healthy.”
In fact, most of Erickson’s focus is nutritional education.
“I love to share my enthusiasm for health, and it is a thrill for me to see others getting fit and healthy,” said Erickson.
One of the characteristics of Erickson’s classes that set them apart from other fitness programs is that Erickson will actually train alongside her athletes. She says there is no “one size fits all” fitness program and takes a personal interest in each client as she works with them one on one.
“I doubt you will find anyone out there that is more excited about health and fitness than I am,” said Erickson. “I love this stuff – it is part of me.”
