Beautiful Park City — history, swag, night life, mountains, specialty shops, the outlet stores. Every year my family and I plan at least one trip to the famous Utah town to swim and shop at this mountainside mecca. Usually, we visit over Memorial Day, but after attending the free summer concert series at The Canyons resort, I am starting a new Park City summer tradition.

Being from New Jersey, I find it hard to believe that after only 15 minutes of walking you can feel so far away from civilization. This thought hit me very shortly into my hike with Miles on the Round Valley Trail in Snyderville Basin. Very quickly after beginning the hike, we were in the middle of a valley with mountains surrounding us and no houses in sight. The air was crisp and we were enveloped in nature.

BEAVER CREEK TRAIL is a local favorite because it caters to beginner and intermediate bikers and is well-liked by all. The trail is found in the Uinta Mountains and is a great first-time alpine experience. With the exception of a steep hill at the beginning of the trail, it is a rather flat ride.

Last summer I was introduced to what has now become my favorite sport — wake surfing. I loved the water long before I was introduced to wake surfing, but now I just can’t seem to get enough.

Mention biking and many people think of kids riding to the park on summer afternoons. Mention mountain biking and images of Moab and Slickrock come to mind. But more and more Utah Valley residents are rediscovering the enjoyment of getting on a bicycle and pedaling through gorgeous local mountain scenery. "Every year the popularity continues to grow," said Kenny Frazier, assistant manager at the Bike Peddler in American Fork and a 10-year mountain biking veteran. "Riders are continuing to push limits, to see what they can do on their bikes."
