Highway 12 with kids — is it worth it?

I start with Scenic Byway 12 because it really is the most remarkable stretch of all-American highway in southern Utah.  But even this gorgeous three-hour drive begs the question: is it really any fun with kids?  With four under the age of 8 my husband and I will join the rallying cry with an exuberant “Yes!”

Highway 12 has a great collection of tourist shops

Aside from the fact that Highway 12 is some of the most scenic in all of southern Utah, you also can consider it the path to some of the most scenic places to hop out of the car and embark on an adventure of a few minutes, hours, days or weeks. Whether you are looking for tourist-kitsch or to wander for days on end where few have, you will find access to it along Highway 12.

A sport called murderball

The deafening thud of metal crashing into metal fills the gymnasium of Park City High School during the D-3 National Wheelchair Rugby Tournament. Spectators gasp and latch onto their seats with white knuckled grips as Josh Wheeler loses balance from the impact and tips his custom wheelchair onto its side. Because he's strapped in, he's unable to get up on his own. So a team rushes onto the court, flips the chair back up and Wheeler is back in the game as if nothing has happened.

I am Christopher — Christopher's Bike Ride

My name is Christopher Charles Spencer and for me, life itself is the ultimate adventure.
I started this adventure on June 3, 2000. My little heart quit beating in my mommy’s tummy, and 20 minutes later I was taken out. As soon as the doctors opened my airway, my heart spontaneously started beating again. I arrived three and a half months early to the perfect family.

Hockey program builds kids' confidence

A Provo hockey team took to the ice Friday for its first skating session, and for some it was the first time ever on the ice.

The team consists of approximately 15 special-needs youth, ranging in age from 6 to 26. As the athletes got into their gear, many were excited to move around on their skates and hold a hockey stick in their gloved hands.
